The Asian Eye Institute (AEI) partners with noted photographer and reading advocate Mandy Navasero in a photo exhibit to heighten awareness of healthy vision and reading.
Navasero, after graduating BA in professional photography major in Illustration and Advertising at Brooks Institute, Santa Barbara, California, came home and was hailed as the photographer who “changed the landscape of photography in the Philippines.”
The show features 21 portraits of AEI patrons who themselves practice good eye health and reading habits, and encourage the public to do the same. The exhibit includes quotes from the subjects on the value of eye care and reading, educational posters, and a reading nook courtesy of the National Book Development Board (NBDB).
Highlights of the 3-day photo exhibit are read-along sessions with Tintin Bersola-Babao and Rodolfo Yanza (or Kuya Tony of the Batibot show), a Basic Portraiture Photography lecture by Mandy Navasero, and eyedrop sampling. There will be drop box for books to the NBDB Project “Keep Kids Reading. Give Books” to benefit public schools affected by Typhoon Ondoy, and the“Eyeglasses for Ifugao” project of the Ophthalmological Foundation of the Philippines.
On exhibit are framed large photographs of Vice President Noli de Castro, Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Lopez, Mr. and Mrs. Manolo Lopez, educator Helena Benitez, Sen. Jovito Salonga, Sen. Juan Ponce Enrile, Chief Justice and UST Law Dean Andres Narvasa, Jose Cuisia, Jr., Raul Concepcion, Rep. Cynthia Villar, Advocate Vicky Garchitorena, actress Helen Gamboa, environmentalist Gina Lopez, Raffy Alunan, Atty. Barbara Margallos, ABS CBN president Charo Santos, Gloria Angara, Rustan’s Nedy Tantoco and daughter Catherine, Rep. Nikki Prieto Teodoro and Tintin Bersola and daughter Antonia.
The exhibit runs from November 6 to November 8 at the Power Plant Mall at Rockwell Center. It will be open to the public.
